Introduction
This is a CPCAB validated Course (the only validating body specifically for counselling and psychotherapy). Employers in the caring professions are increasingly asking for this kind of qualification. The course is focused on an introduction to the practical use of skills and is open to anyone interested in finding out about counselling. The course can be a standalone course for people working within the caring professions or for anyone wanting to enhance their communication skills.
What will I study?
The course is based on the Person Centered approach to helping. The course is practical and participative. Personal development is an important aspect of the course, as is self reflection.

King Edward VI College is currently running a Certificate in Counselling Skills Level 2 Course which you will be able to attend subject to acceptance and suitability, we will also be running level 3 in September and eventually will offer the full range of CPCAB courses.

- Entry Requirements: There are no entry requirements for this course.
- Duration: This is a 10 week course, consisting of 30 guided learning hours, three hours per week.
- Assesment: Assessment is ongoing throughout the course by your tutor, peers and yourself. Students are asked to keep a weekly learning review capturing their experiences on the course and their interactions with their fellow students.
